Mini mixmatch challenge winners enjoy celebratory meal

img_0309The winning team of this year’s inaugural Mini Mixmatch School challenge event, Ash Green Community Primary School, enjoyed their prize winning meal at TGI Friday’s in Halifax on Thursday 20 October.

The team of 6 boys, accompanied by Miss Taylor and Mrs Mann from the school, met with Heather Stout from the Mixenden Infinitive, PC Jonny Ramsden and Firefighter Dave Manning who joined to help the pupils celebrate their victory.

img_0302The team of 6 boys were given celebrity style treatment by the staff at TGI’s, who made their visit feel really special.

The deserved winners battled through a series of challenges set up by the Mixenden Activity Centre, West Yorkshire Police and West Yorkshire Fire Service to win the very first Mini Mixmatch Challenge which took place on Tuesday 21 June 2016.

20160621_133452Ash Green managed to overcome some tough opposition from Mount Pellon Primary Academy, Dean Field Community Primary School and Whitehill Community Academy to be crowned champions of the event.

The event, which will be repeated on a yearly basis came about as a result of the annual Mixmatch School Challenge that takes place between Trinity Academy and Park Lane Learning Trust, which now in its 3rd year, has been seen to help reduce youth anti social behaviour and deliberate fires in the area.
