Players from Ovenden Phoenix FC were on hand to man a ducking stool at the West Yorkshire Fire Service Fun Day held at Birkenshaw HQ on Saturday 9 July 2016 which attracts approximately 9,000 visitors each year.
Held beneath sunshine and pouring rain in the grounds of the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Services headquarters, every emergency vehicle possible was on display as well as a number of attractions such as children’s rides, entertaining shows and much more.
The players from Ovenden Phoenix took turns to sit on the ducking stool and saw people of all ages queuing up to try their luck, throwing tennis balls at a target in the hope that they would knock the lads into a cold pool of water waiting below them.
Karen Scanlon chair of Ovenden Phoenix said
“We have had great fun at Birkenshaw. It’s the 3rd year we have been able to support such a great cause in the fire fighters charity and it’s lovely to see so many people out enjoying themselves”
