20mph is coming to North Halifax this year – have your say on where it should be introduced and tell Calderdale Council by 27 May.
Following the approval by Calderdale Council’s cabinet of the roll out of 20mph speed limits on residential streets and roads we can now give you full details of the next phase of the scheme which is planned for October 2016.
20mph speed limits will be introduced in Illingworth, Ovenden, Bradshaw, Fountainhead and Wheatley areas. A modification is also proposed which will extend the length of Mill Lane, Mixenden, to which the 20mph speed limit applies.
Other areas of Calderdale will be phased in over 2017.
The introduction of 20mph is seen as a positive way forward in our battle to reduce the number of vulnerable road users seriously injured in collisions and to help make our streets safe and pleasant for all children and adults however they travel or wherever they live.
Detailed plans outlining the streets involved in the speed limit changes in the area are now available on the Calderdale Council website at www.calderdale.gov.uk/20mph.
