Between 10.40am and 10.45am on Friday 8 January, a man walked in to a retail store in Berry Lane, Halifax and started placing items in to two large gift bags. On attempting to leave without paying, the man was stopped by a male staff member. He then emptied the contents of the bags on to the floor and threatened the staff member with a needle before leaving the store.

The man is described as white, aged in his mid 30s, approximately 5ft 9ins tall, of slim build with dark hair. He was wearing a black waterproof jacket, blue jeans and trainers.

Police Constable Abigail Jarvis, of Halifax Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:

“As part of our enquiries in to this incident, we are seeking the public’s help in identifying the man pictured in this CCTV image.

Thankfully the staff member who confronted the suspect wasn’t harmed but it is of concern that the man involved has used a needle as a threat.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Halifax Neighbourhood Policing Team via 101 quoting 13160010602.
