Joined by PC Dave Illingworth, Ward Officer for Illingworth, players from Ovenden Phoenix FC were on hand to man a ducking stool at the West Yorkshire Fire Service Fun Day held at Birkenshaw HQ on Saturday 11 July which attracted approximately 9,000 visitors.

Held beneath blue skies in the grounds of the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Services headquarters, every emergency vehicle possible was on display as well as a number of attractions such as children’s rides and entertaining shows.

Karen Scanlon chair of Ovenden Phoenix said

“We have had great fun at Birkenshaw and it’s lovely to see so many people enjoying themselves and helping to support such a great cause in the fire fighters charity”

Lisa Calvert, Community Fundraiser for Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice even joined in the fun and took a dunking to help the cause.
