WINNER: 11pm tutor group at The Halifax Acadmy
Our winners this year are record-breaking fundraisers who have donated gifts to the local hospital and have funded the construction of a new water well in the Philippines.
The 11pm tutor group at The Halifax Academy are recognised for their amazing efforts in raising funds in memory of Ali Raja, a former student at the school who lived in the park ward area who lost his battle against cancer a year ago.
In his memory, the group decided they wanted to give something to the local hospital and they participated in various fund raising events which saw them wash over 100 cars as well as organising and hosting many tea parties, providing all the refreshments themselves.
Students also collected donations from friends, families and the local community and the amount of money raised exceeded everyone’s expectations smashing the school record in the process with a whopping £3,700.
As a result of this honourable achievement 11pm were not only able to donate gifts to their local hospital, to the value of £2,000, but they were also able to fund the construction of a new water well in the Philippines.
The amazing 11pm are now planning the funding and construction of further water wells around the world… These are ordinary students doing extraordinary things.
