The Junior Wardens from Dean Field Community Primary School, Ovenden planted thousands of daffodil bulbs on Wednesday 15 October that will show a sea of yellow when spring arrives.
Ovenden and Mixenden Initiative, Community Wardens, Calderdale Council’s Safer Cleaner Greener Team and Dean field PTA worked alongside the Junior Wardens from Dean Field Community Primary School in the planting and management of their local environment.
Spring bulbs can provide a really impressive, long lasting display which makes a fantastic addition to any mixed herbaceous border, providing a burst of colour weeks before the earliest perennials begin to emerge and prior to the season getting going as the daffodils begin to take centre stage.
Planting a mixture of these early and later flowering bulbs means they can be enjoyed by all with a mass of colour right through until April.
Junior Wardens planted the boarders and grass areas along the school driveway at Cousin Lane, Ovenden, creating great displays that will go on for years to come.
