There are stars among us in North Halifax…

North Halifax Partnership is pleased to announce the 2014 North Halifax Neighbourhood Awards Winners.

Each year, the ‘Night of the North Halifax Stars’ event honours the local people, groups and organisations from Illingworth, Ovenden and Mixenden whose contribution to their communities makes a real difference.

Hosted at Trinity Academy Halifax, the 6th ‘Night of the North Halifax Stars’ on 16 May saw 40 nominees and 11 winners recognised for their hard work, dedication and talent.

The Mayor of Calderdale, Councillor Ann Martin and her consort, Mohammad Naeem were also in attendance to present all the 2014 nominees with their certificates.

Guests were entertained in between the award presentations by local band Bite the Bullet from North Halifax Grammar School and around 15 young performers from Trinity Academy, including the A Level Dance students and the Trinity Steel Pan Band.

Danielle Durrans, Vice Chair of the North Halifax Partnership said,

“A night with the stars – who needs celebrities to feel in awe! I don’t think I could have felt any more pride than I did on Friday. What a fantastic event where so many amazing people, and all they do is celebrated in style. I feel so privileged to live in the area I do”

Vicky McGhee, Neighbourhood Manager for Ovenden & Mixenden Initiative said,

“Thank you to Trinity Academy staff and students who have really pulled out all the stops to make this evening truly special and one that our 2014 North Halifax Stars really deserve.  The Neighbourhood Awards is my favourite time of year because it’s a time to celebrate and remember that there are stars among us!”

The 2014 North Halifax Neighbourhood Awards were funded in partnership by Pennine Housing 2000, Trinity Academy Halifax, and Ovenden and Mixenden Initiative.
